Lighting Choice

The most important question: what types of fixtures are compatible with plastic panels? Let's look at some of the nuances:

• It must be remembered that plastic does not tolerate high temperatures and melts. For this reason, the maximum power of lighting devices is 40 watts. Therefore, incandescent lamps or gas discharge type devices are not suitable here.

Important! The best solution, according to experts, is low-voltage LED lamps.

• An important point is the tightness of the lamp housing and an indicator of the degree of protection of at least IP44. If you install in a room with a normal level of humidity, then the moisture protection indicator is not critical. Despite the huge selection of devices compatible with plastic panels, the installation technology is about the same.

Location and Connection

When installing bathroom lighting, do not place lamps directly above the shower stall, bathtub or sink. For a small bathroom (and most of them), quite 2-3 lighting fixtures for bright lighting are quite enough.

Important! As a source of additional lighting, you can use the device, built into the wall or wall cabinet.

Features of the wiring arrangement:

• To connect the lighting, a 3x1.5 mm2 wire is used.
• At the same time, the junction box is moved outside the bathroom.
• All communications are laid in a corrugated pipe.

Minimum safety distance:

• from the lamp to the bath or shower - 0.5 m;
• between lighting devices - 1.0 m;
• from the lamp to the nearest wall (in a normal room) - 0.6 m.

Panel Preparation

Most often, a plastic panel is a wide long board. Panels are mounted in special grooves or overlap. In order not to suffer from drilling on the ceiling, it is advisable to mark the location of the lamps in advance and drill holes for them in advance. It is better to drill on a flat hard surface, in strict accordance with the plan.

Important! Remember to label the panels so as not to forget where exactly they will be inserted. This is especially true if you want to mount spotlights in a checkerboard pattern.

For drilling, special crowns are used for working on drywall or plastic. A crown for wood is also suitable. In the latter case, if burrs remain from the ends of the holes, they must be removed with an emery or file.

Lamps are mounted after the panels are installed permanently. The fastening technique resembles a similar process on drywall.

Another method

Here is another way to make lamps in the ceiling of the panels. You can also prepare holes in the plastic for the lamp in another way:

• Mark the place for the hole with a compass.
• Using a clerical knife, make a hole along the contour of the marked line.
• The final shape of the hole is attached using a jigsaw.

Thus, you can completely do without a drill and save on the purchase of expensive mills. This technique is not without a certain minus: the work will advance much more slowly.

Important! As a rule, plastic products are sensitive to mechanical stress. Therefore, avoid excessive pressure with your hand while cutting holes.

Installation of spotlights in a PVC panel

The installation procedure is as follows:

1. Disconnect the top of the lamp from the base.
2. Connect using the terminals.
3. Connect the lamp.
4. Check performance.
5. Using special clips, install the lamp in place.
6. Put on a decorative overlay.
7. Attach a heat insulating ring to the bottom of the luminaire.

Done! The lamp is fully mounted and ready for use. Now it remains only to fix the plate to the surface with the help of small nails or staples.
